And in the Good Ole Daze[tm], they were just that - a "group". However, in the interim they've figured out a much better marketing ploy - instead of calling yourself a "group" and flogging around the alterna-rawk circuit for little dosh, reinvent yourselves as a "theatre troupe" and make "Stomp" be the name of your musical/theatrical presentation. That way you can split and become two troupes (originals, plus a new troupe made up mostly of Yanks) and more importantly, you can play in Theatre halls for several weeks at a go and charge outrageous theatre patron prices to be seen ($25 ... on up). If you're not a student, you'll be skint after seeing "Stomp". I still think what they do is really great (they brought down the house on Saturday Night Live, I think), but I don't dig the marketing ploy. On the other hand, if they make anybody go out and buy Test Dept's 1986 magnum opus "The Unacceptable Face Of Freedom" (still my Greatest Album Of The 80's, easy), it'll be worth it. - Greg
